How many way can you keto?
I am going to break down three ways to use the oh so trendy “KETO” diet. Keto isn’t that hard to understand and use but I want you to know that it doesn’t have to be so extreme! This diet even works for the laziest of people.
THERAPEUTIC KETO
Therapeutic keto is for the extreme or the very ill. Therapeutic keto forces the body into ketosis and rapidly changes your bodies fuel source to ketones. This is done by extreme change in the diet. The diet is usually monitored by a doctor and aggressively limits your caloric, sugar, carbohydrate and protein intake. This process has been published in medical journals to help with many serious illnesses such as diabetes, epilepsy and cancer.
Therapeutic keto is not necessary for weight loss for the average person. It must be monitored by a doctor and may have nutritional deficiencies as a side effect. It is usually used short term to correct the problem and then the patient usually transfers to healthy keto for maintenance.
HEALTHY KETO
Healthy keto is for the average person who wants to focus on health and weight loss. This way of eating is pretty simple once you have educated yourself and prepared to cook at home. Healthy keto puts you in ketosis at a slower rate (15-30 days) and will not shock your system. You will continue to eat vegetables, fats and proteins to maintain good nutrition. You will need to supplement some electrolytes (sodium-magnesium-potassium) as well as a good vitamin regime.
Healthy keto will correct some health concerns such as fatty liver, body inflammation, insulin resistance, hormone imbalance, migraines and chronic hunger. All of these things are worth the effort of preparing healthy food in your own kitchen. There are tons of healthy keto recipes online. Search for your favorite and start cooking.
LAZY KETO
Lazy keto might be for you. If you do not have the time to cook every meal, do not give up on all the benefits of this wonderful way of eating. You must educate yourself. Focus on the list of foods to avoid. Take it with you. Put it in your smart phone. Write it down. Use it when you are ordering at a restaurant.
Lazy keto will help you lose weight. You might not reach ketosis, but that doesn’t really matter. Lazy keto is “low sugar-low carb”. Drastically reducing your sugar and carb intake will effect your insulin. That is the whole point. Lower your insulin will tell your body not to store food.
FOOD CHOICES
In the end, it is and always will be about food choices. Wherever you are; grocery, home or restaurant. Be educated is my best advice.
