I never though about my insulin before 2016. I never dreamed it would be such a huge part of my life. I love learning about my body and what I can control. I am a control freak. It’s true. So when I figured out that I can control a LOT things going on with my body by just eating a different pattern of food, then things got serious.

In Part One, https://kentuckyketocoach.com/2018/11/25/insulin-resistance-part-1/, I explained a little about high insulin causing your cells to shut the door. When you eat too much sugar it causes your insulin to become too high. The cells become resistant. BUT, as a result of high sugar and high insulin, the cells also resist other important things like nutrients, cortisol and trace minerals. Think of the cell as having the garage door shut and locked not allowing anything to come in. This is a problem.

Problems of high sugar

High sugar and insulin in the body creates inflammation. Don’t just take my word for it. Google it. Dr Eric Westman from Duke University has been studying the effects of high sugar in Americans diets for years and many other doctors are now also concluding that inflammation in the body is a direct cause of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and autoimmunity.

Natures anti-inflammatory

Our body is made to heal itself. Cortisol, hormone from our adrenal glands, is natures anti-inflammatory. It is the most powerful anti- inflammatory on the market. But, it can’t help your body if your cells are shut down. How can it go in and reduce inflammation if you have created resistance to basically everything? Your body is running on the back up generator. It is in fight or flight mode. Glucose is forcing your body to survive but not thrive. Correcting your insulin resistance is the key to allow your body to be at top performance.

Now, with all that high cortisol running wild in your body with now where to go drastically influences your bodies ability to function correctly. High cortisol levels can lower your bodies immunity, disturbs sleep patterns, and causes fatigue. This is no way to run your body.

Better body function for better life

In the end, like I said in the beginning, we are in control. Control of our body. Control of how we live. Control of how we feel. Learning about a ketogenic lifestyle is the answer to the high cortisol problem. Hang out here at https://www.kentuckyketocoach.com  to learn more about keto.
